Russia detains man accused of building fake border in the forest to trick migrants
For this week's blog post I decided to focus on a CNN article written by Zahra Ullah. In this article she describes how a man is accused of building a fake border crossing in order to trick and out migrants. He has been detained by Russian authorities. The suspect created a fake frontier near Russia's border with Finland and deceived four people who thought they were being smuggled into the European Union. According to Russian state news agency TASS, the migrants are reportedly from South Asia and have been arrested. The suspect is a former Soviet republic country, and installed makeshift signs and posts in a forest in the Leningrad region to trick migrants that they were crossing into the European Union. He reportedly charged each migrants 11,000 to help them cross into Finland.
